Sunday at the Thole's

Today was pretty uneventful. Kevin worked on the closet, I knitted, watched Friends, and went to work for a couple of hours. Kevin took a break in the afternoon to watch the Blues game - here are a few pictures of a typical weekend afternoon on the couch in our living room.

Tonight I finally made Kevin his birthday dinner (steak and crab legs). On Friday, his actual birthday, he had gone to the doctor because his hip was bothering him...and he came home from work that night and went straight to bed and didn't wake up for 13 hours....hence not making his birthday dinner that night. Yesterday we had his mom and brother and my parents and Jackie and Allen over for a birthday dinner, so that was nice.
Not much else going on. Lucy is generally becoming a better-behaved dog, but she's still got quite a ways to go. The bad thing is that she is still randomly chewing on things if we don't keep an eye on her. This morning she ate part of my FAVORITE bra, which was a nightmare since right now this is just about the only one I can stand to wear. I might attempt to fix it, but I don't know.
It will be a busy week....lots of work to do, and then lots of cleaning to do before we have some houseguests this next weekend - my college roommates Erikka and Katrina will be visiting with their husbands. Will be so nice to see them for the first time since last June!

Not too much going on

Hi. I just thought I'd write something since its been awhile. There hasn't been much going on. Highlights from the last week or so:

Went to the St. Patrick's Day parade downtown with Jen, Angie, Matt, Jackie and Allen. The parade was long, and it was actually a little too warm in the sun (I even got a sunburn) but I was glad to experience my first downtown parade.

The weather has been pretty nice, so twice last week Jackie helped me take the dogs for a walk. Lucy is kind of crazy on walks, and pulls me the whole way, so its nice to have Jackie walk the crazy dog. We went once to Tower Grove Park, one of my favorite places. Jackie even took both dogs for short sprints, and helped Lucy try to chase some birds.

At home, Kevin's been working hard on re-doing the closet in the baby's room. No pictures yet, but last weekend he tore out all the plaster. Why you might ask? Good question, but I can't tell you. So this weekend he finished the wiring to put in lights (that was the whole goal) and he got the dry wall up and the first coat of mud. He's going to build some shelves in there, and put up a nice long shelf and closet rod. It will be even nicer than my closet!

Not much else. Just working and trying to keep the dogs in line. Satchel has started instigating some biting fights with Lucy which can be exhausting. Lately I just put some peanut butter in her Kong and that will occupy her long enough to forget about biting. But she's getting so big!!

Now I'm off to my 24 week doctors appointment. I have to have a glucose test, so I just had to drink this gross orange sugar drink. It has the baby kicking like crazy right now. Hopefully I don't have gestational diabetes! I also am finally looking into day cares. I went to see one this morning, about 10 blocks south of our house. Now there are two more I'd like to see, and I've talked to one person on the phone who has a small in-home daycare. Someone told me though that a person like that isn't tax deductible? Does anyone know?

No bare belly pictures for me....

I've been meaning to take pictures from time to time of getting fatter. But I hate 98% of pictures of myself, so this is difficult. But my friend Erin requested a picture, and since she's on bedrest, and is having a birthday and a baby all in the next 5 days I figure I should comply. Also, I liked the shirt I was wearing yesterday, AND my sister Jackie was over to help me take the picture (Kevin isn't very good at trying to take decent pictures). So here I am at 23ish weeks. Still wearing all normal clothes, with the occasional help of my bella band!

It's Christmas!

Ok, no it's not, but my Christmas cactus is blooming again! It also bloomed in mid November (a slightly more appropriate time). But it's pretty!

I finished my most recent pair of socks this weekend. I LOVE them! They are called Marlene, and the sock yarn I bought in Chicago at a fun yarn store called Loopy.

This is all the yarn I had left. Yikes!

Last week I bought a rocking chair on craigslist. I've been asking Kevin for his opinion on rocking chairs for awhile, and he didn't disapprove of this one. I was thrilled to see that it was completely quarter sawn oak when I picked it up. Woohoo! Kevin has already stripped and stained the chair, so I think that means he likes it. He's very proud of his refinishing job so far; I am proud of the deal I found.

Exhausted

A lot has been going on the last few days. I'll just hit the highlights.

Friday morning, I fell down some of the stairs at home. I had on some thin, slick socks, and wiped out on the first step going down. Thankfully we have a landing partway down, so I only fell about 4 or 5 steps. My arm took the brunt of the fall, and I think it might be my most colorful bruise ever (quite a feat coming from someone who bruises easily and often). I thought you'd like to see it:

It still hurts but I think I'll survive.

Lucy is continuing to be a pretty good puppy. Many people seem amazed at how good she is, considering she's only about 4 and a half months old. I finally caught a picture of her standing on the back of the couch/windowsill. She loves to jump up there and get behind the curtain. Hopefully she'll grow out of this, she's already a bit too big.

Friday evening Kevin and I were just sitting in the living room and watching tv (and I was knitting of course). I noticed Lucy was chewing on one of his socks (she LOVES socks) and I told Kevin, and he took it away. Right after that, she was chewing on it again, and I told Kevin again, and he just let her keep chewing. Not much later, Kevin got up and said, "Where are my socks?".......neither of them could be found. So we figured, great, Lucy ate two socks and we'll be taking her to the vet tomorrow. Saturday morning, Kevin woke up and proclaimed, "Hooray, there are two socks in a pile of vomit at the foot of the bed!" which was an interesting statement to wake up to.
Meanwhile, poor Satchel was having problems going to the bathroom, and long disgusting story short we did have to take him to the vet Saturday. He seems to be ok now though, thankfully.

Saturday night Mandy and Lewis came over to our house with Emma and Spencer. We made homemade pizza, and Spencer was very entertaining help - he helped put on the cheese and the pepperoni, and everything he put on the pizza he then had to press down hard with his fingers. He also was funny because he kept asking me if he could see my baby. He asked this probably 30 times in the span of 3 hours. Can you tell Emma and Spencer are related?

And Spencer enjoyed cuddling with Satchel on the couch. Lucy was also impressively good with both kids, and didn't really jump on or bite at them at all.
