Let's try this again

Apparently the 'splish splash' video played for awhile, but then stopped working. Instead of editing the other post, I'm just re-posting this. Hopefully this works for you, Jess!

I finally took a lot of pictures the last few days, so here are some highlights.

Playing with dad

Gus's first sippy cup. I walked into the room, handed it to him, and he immediately grabbed it and started chewing. He's done minimal drinking from it so far, but still he's doing good.

Here he's actually drinking out of the sippy cup

Splish Splash

Last night was Gus's first bath sitting in the water - before now he was laying on a sling-type thing. But he enjoyed this quite a lot.

I took a lot of pictures this weekend too, so I'll put some of those up soon too.

Gus's 6 month checkup

I haven't taken many pictures lately, but I figure a blog post without a picture is just no fun. So here is Gus eating peas for the first time last night.

Yesterday was Gus's 6 month check up at the doctor. He is weighing in at 19 lb 10 oz, which was either 80th or 85th percentile. Kevin was concerned that he wasn't gaining enough weight, since he was in the 90th percentile for his last visit......oh Kevin. He is 26.5 inches long too. So all in all a pretty big kid. For me, the most important part of this doctor's visit was talking about all the food sensitivities Gus seems to have. I may or may not have written about how I thought he had a reaction to formula when I mixed it with cereal? And also, some vegetables - squash for sure and maybe sweet potatoes and carrots, give him a rash. Anyway, she generally thought we should wait another month before trying the yellow veggies again...so now we're sticking to peas and green beans. We're also supposed to start him on meat, which I think seems weird.

In other news, the class I was supposed to teach as part of Wash U's University College is officially canceled. No one was registered for it, so they cut it completely. I'm both sad and relieved. I expect I'll still get the opportunity to teach sooner or later, but I was looking forward to getting it sooner. Although I was indeed anxious about how I was going to do that, my regular job, and take care of Gus without losing my mind. So I guess I'll have awhile til I'll need to figure out how to do all those things.

Kevin has been back to work a week and a half now. He's been a working fool - leaving the house before 7am and not coming back til after 8. Last night he didn't even get to see Gus before he went to bed. Maybe that will teach him to come home at a decent time.....

Happy New Year!!!

Wow, a lot has been going on. We got a new camera right before Christmas, which was perfect. Thanks June! We've been very busy doing things for the last two weeks, and I couldn't put up pictures of everything, but you can check them out on my snapfish page:

Anyway, Gus has been doing great. He's almost figured out how to sit up by himself. He has completely figured out the rolling over thing....anytime I lay him down I come back and he's on his tummy. He almost never rolls back to his back though..... Kevin has been working on trying to teach Gus to crawl. Good luck with that, Kevy. He's 6 months old in two days! Crazy! He doesn't go to the doctor til next week though, so I'll surely report back then how big he is. All I know is he's big enough that my arms hurt when I hold him too long!
Anyway, here are some highlights from Christmas. The pictures ended up in a weird order and i didn't feel like fixing them. But first, a video of Gus trying to open his first Christmas present.

Gus with all of his presents from Christmas at our house. Kevin went to Toys R Us BY HIMSELF and bought him two toys - I had just bought him shoes and one small toy. Very funny.

John and Gus in their sweater vests

John loves Satchel! He kept walking around mom's house saying something that sounded like 'Sasha'....so cute!

Gus playing with one of his new toys

See, Gus got the present open on his own (this is the one from the video)!!

Now, it's back to work in the new year. Kevin went back to work at ESS yesterday, so hopefully that goes well. I'm working on a million different things in the lab, most of which haven't been working. I also start teaching 3 weeks from yesterday - YIKES!!!!!
